The question posed often is this: “How do I begin to understand connecting remotely with everyone, everything, everywhere with Reiki?”
In Second Degree Reiki training, students learn the Distance symbol which they are taught to use as what I call the “bridge” that connects us to sharing Reiki beyond time or distance. We can connect and share Reiki with our past or our future or with someone across the world as easily as we can with someone in our living room. But for many of those who learn Reiki or simply receive Distance Reiki, or what I call remote healing, this can be a concept difficult to wrap one’s head around. Our linear minds may struggle to understand how it works. While there are many books that explain how we are connected from a quantum physics perspective, one of which I recommend at the end of this article, this isn’t purely a left brain learning (this book demonstrates that also). It is a matter of experiencing. Once we “experience” Oneness, we will never again question its existence. Once we feel sunlight on our face on a warm spring day, we can never be told it does not exist. We know it to be true. Understanding how it is that we can connect with someone or something in another time or place or the idea that we are all connected can be perceived only one way - through the practice of stillness. The act of Being. It is in the act of Being, or losing oneself to what exists in our outer world and going within, that we “bump up” against the greater Consciousness that exists all around us at all times. Questioning how this works is good. A discerning mind is a learning mind. Yet at some point we have to stop questioning and allow ourselves to experience it. Reiki is one way of connecting to the energy of the Universe, and, in doing so, our minds go away. We lose ourselves in the act, if we practice well and learn to listen with our inner senses, and we become One with the whole. No time, no space, no distance - we are in and surrounded by Oneness. If we can connect with that energy while sitting in our bed practicing self Reiki, or working with another person in real time, we learn to trust the energy and it becomes more natural for us to understand that we can connect with any person or animal or part of nature in any time or place, because consciousness is everywhere. It’s one big web of connection. The more we practice sharing Reiki remotely, the more we build our belief system when we experience how easily it works. Sharing Reiki remotely with others as practice is a wonderful place to begin. Another way that I have found to connect with this Oneness is though guided meditation. My meditation teacher is Dr. Joe Dispenza and, through his meditations, he helps us to “become nothing, in nowhere, in no time.” Sitting in nature, perhaps under a tree, focusing on being present to what it is, sinking down into that deep present moment awareness, becoming aware of how fast you’ve been spinning along, how distracting your thoughts are, and simply allowing yourself to be is another way that might work for you to begin this journey or, in fact, to remind yourself of it. In a world of doing, tied to our technology, simply "being" is an increasingly foreign concept. Recently I heard one of my teachers explain that the hunter gatherers spent a very small portion of their day collecting their food and a large part of their time was spent sitting around the fire, dreaming and pondering. We can learn much from them. My guess is that they did not need to read or be taught about the Oneness of the Universe, the web that connects everyone and everything. They just knew. And, deep down, so do we, in the innermost part of ourselves that exists in every moment. Happy to help anytime. Why learn Animal Reiki?
by Rose O’Connor This past June I was blessed to share Animal Reiki 1 and 2 with five more wonderful students out of Honeybrook Farm amongst the horses. This work continues to develop, both in the student and in myself. We’ve reached out to the Animal Kingdom and they have responded, showing us that they are the best teachers of this work. My personal favorite part of the class was when the students paired off and shared remote Reiki with each other’s animals. The responses were laced with intuition, deep insight and shared loving experience with one another. One month later, the group rejoined to share how their Animal Reiki practice was evolving. The most astounding part of this work is that it teaches itself, through the animals. We open our hearts and we receive - peace, deeper connection with all that is, and incredible experiences. From one student’s sharing of how her practice with horses is evolving naturally and beautifully, to another whose connection with all of nature has opened up in new ways, another who found a new sense of peace and calmness with her horse, to yet another for whom Animal Reiki took her animal from being close to death to moving along the road to recovery. Such riches, shared with smiling faces, left my heart feeling so joyful for this work. Teaching Animal Reiki has become my own personal way of spreading stewardship for the Earth, by working with others to enrich, enhance, and hopefully enlighten their innate connection with the Animals, the Tree of Life, and all of Earth. If you have any pull to evolve your connection with Reiki in new directions, I hope you will find an Animal Reiki course near you or just reach out to me with any questions. Animal Blessings, Rose Today, July 8th, is my mother Margie's birthday. She would be 97 today were she still in a body. Her love of nature and her love of words are both things that I share with her, so today I honor her day with this poem written in my head while on the lake in my kayak.
FLOATING She has washed me clean this morning, washed my energy and made it new. She, the lady of the lake, has shared her delights with me this early morning She shared the shimmer on the trees, Grandmother Moon setting in the Western sky, the summer grasses holding droplets of dew A fairy glen tucked in by one corner of the lake, its mists revealing a beaver, jumping off a log to disappear under the water fish showing themselves gaily as they splash and play birds singing singing singing their morning prayers of joy taking me away on a shamanic journey as I float drumming the side of my kayak with my hand returning to see a blue heron sharing space with me at eye level rushes tall enough to make a giant Brigids cross dragonflies everywhere winking on the water joyous heart opening beautiful mother Danu All of nature within me and I within it Every day to begin this way washed by nature's bounty Rose O'Connor Love you Mother Happy day of your birth Today I heard someone say, "If there's something you want to do, do it now. This isn't a dress rehearsal. This is it." I don't know about you, but with all the changes in our world and in our personal lives these past few years, years in which many of us have lost loved ones, these words could never be more real.
We are here in this wonderful playground called Mother Earth, able to do and be anything we want. Has Africa been a lifelong dream for you as it has been for me? Do you love the idea of learning Animal Reiki in a place that holds incredible magic, limitless peace, and joy beyond imagination? Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime? My purpose in teaching what I call Animal/Earth Reiki (also known as ICRT Animal Reiki) is to guide you on a journey to BE-come One with all that is. One with the Divine Animal Kingdom, with the Tree of Life, and with the Spirit of the Earth. Diving deeply into our Reiki meditations, attunements, and practices, we will explore together the wonders of an African safari, an Animal Reiki course, and an opportunity to share space with some of the most magnificent healers the planet holds...elephants, wild cats, and much more. Your heart will burst open as never before. If this makes your pulse quicken and your heart beat faster - and, when you close your eyes you can think of nothing else, reach out to me for more details. Together we will make this dream come true. You are loved by the Animals. Rose Dear Everyone,
So often in the rush of life, we can become disconnected, forgetting that we are part of something much greater than ourselves. Life gets complicated and we forget to ground, to come back to center, to connect with Nature, to connect with ourselves. We need tools, and the practice of Reiki gives us those tools. Tools that include the ability to send healing intentions with Reiki. To know, to see, to experience this powerful gift is incredible. Whatever we send out to the Universal Source of all Oneness is always heard and held. Reiki shows us this in so many ways, and it is in the practice that our belief is strengthened, that our intentions are made manifest. Every day, at the start or equally at the end of the day, is the perfect time to plant the seeds of our healing intentions - whether for self, for loved ones, or for the Earth herself. What we can create takes just a few minutes of our earthly time but ripples out into the Universe in ever widening circles, expanding beyond space and time. Some practitioners use a crystal or a crystal Reiki grid for this that holds the intentions. You can also physically write out your intentions and place them next to your bed. At night, as you prepare to "be with" those intentions in a Reiki space, imbuing those intentions with Reiki's love, imagine those healing intentions like little balls of pure light being "caught" by the numerous beings of Light who are all around us. Caught, held, and magnified. Find your own way to seed your own intentions and make it a fun and enriching practice in your life if you haven't already. The Universal Source of all Oneness is there to help us grow those seeds into being. You count, you are heard and you are always held, always supported. You matter. You make a difference. Love Rose Dear Everyone,
2022 has been filled with many changes for most of us spinning around on this planet. The year had its challenges and its gifts, as most years do. Some of us lost loved ones and, along with the sorrow and pain, comes the knowing that every breath counts. Every breath we take is one we are alive to. It's helpful if we can remind ourselves every day, sometimes every hour, that we get to DO this - we get to be in a body, a body that houses our Spirit. One of the most amazing things I learned in Massage school was that the breath is both voluntary and involuntary. We can activate our breath on our own, maybe while doing yoga or breath work, but our breath also "breathes" itself, involuntarily, whether we want it to or not. Over and over again, throughout our lives, the breath keeps us alive. I'm sitting next to a cat right now who purrs and contemplates his existence. How often do we do that? Even a moment or two to contemplate the miracle of our breath, or a tree, or a cat, has the ability to take us into a state of grace, a state of stillness. Reiki helps. Reiki helps us to move into stillness, into that present moment awareness where everything is already alright. I practice voluntary breathing with Reiki to help bring that awareness through every cell, to bring myself more fully into the perfect present moment. The present moment is the place where we can experience true gratitude, the fact that we get to do this, to create, to explore, to live in these human bodies. Just for today do not worry, do not anger, be Grateful for your body, be kind to yourself, work hard at spiritual practice. (adapted from the Reiki Ideals) And (tongue in cheek) I'll add my own: Just for today, put down your phone and take a few moments to contemplate, to BE. You're special. You count. With love, Rose Having recently finished facilitating my first Animal Reiki Master class with these beautiful women and wonderful horses, the thing I came to know of late is that I've only just begun.
Our group, along with Mother Nature and a farm full of beautiful horses, connected, through Reiki's loving light, to a profound state of peace. Our "classroom" was a second floor yoga room above a four stall barn with a big open door that looked out over the pastures beyond and gave one of the horses direct access to us. We sat with chairs in a semi circle facing the open barn door and during our first morning meditation the horse walked up and quite comfortably completed our circle. As we moved deeply into our experiences and attunements, I felt that exquisite sense of nothing else to do or be. Everything already existed in that pure presence, that pure peace that came from within and moved all around me. And then I realized that the animal kingdom, along with the trees and all of the natural world, do this all the time. They don't need a meditation or a reminder of how to be in connection with everything else. They don't need to be told that they are nature too and that everything around them is not separate from them, but part of them. They already know the things we work so hard to find. The three blissful days went by and the world stepped in once more with all of its distractions. But when I look in the horse's eye, hear a morning birdsong, or feel the sun upon my back, I can no longer forget. The best I can do is notice and connect, honoring Mother Nature as she does me. Sometimes we forget to tell our friends how we care about them, not because we don't, but just because....we think life goes on forever and there is always more time to say what we need to say. A lesson that is moving through my life is that we need to say the words of love, every day. It counts.
Today I'd like to share how Reiki has been my very best friend since 2008. Reiki is the kind of friend who is always there for me, giving me unconditional love in any moment of my day. It never refuses to listen to me or tell me it doesn't have time for me. Its energy is always complete 100% love and it is my access to the Divine, anytime. How many friends can you say that about? Everyone and everything in the world has Reiki flowing through it. The Universe is made of its pure energy. I'd love for you to share here in the comments how Reiki has been a friend to you! With love and Reiki always, will visit here more often, Rose

After several decades on this dear Earth of ours, I can no longer deny that one of the ways I can best communicate is through the written word. So my pledge here to you and to myself is to sing my song of words as they come through me in the hopes of creating a vision for us all. Happy trails.Archives
